What can I donate?
Besides money, which the Legion is always grateful to receive, we will take donations of gently used mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and crutches. These items will then be loaned out, at no charge to people from our community who are in need. We will also accept items of non-perishable foods that we will deliver to the Veteran's Foodbank. From time to time we may hold fundraising activities such as Silent Auctions or Garage Sales, so if there are items that are either new or in good condition that would make a great sale or auction item, please let us know.
I own a business, how can I help?
We love working with our business community; they support us in many ways. Every year during our Poppy Campaign, many businesses will host a poppy box to help raise funds, and we greatly appreciate that. From time to time we may hold fundraising activities such as Silent Auctions or Garage Sales, so if you have items that are either new or in good condition that would make a great sale or auction item, please let us know. Branded items and gift cards are another great way businesses can help, especially for door prizes at our events. We will also host special meals for Veterans and Seniors from our community, so if you are able to contribute food items specifically for that type of event, please let us know and we will reach out to you once those are scheduled.
IS YOUR ORGANIZATION TRANSPARENT?
Everything that the Legion does is mandated by our National Headquarters. We must account for all monies raised and distributed. The only information that is never made public are the names of Veterans or their family to whom we have provided support; we respect their right to privacy.
HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION DIRECTLY SUPPORTS THE CAUSE?
The Jasper Place Legion #255 is a not-for-profit organization that is organized and run totally by volunteers. All monies raised go towards supporting the Veterans and their families, the community, and the operation of the branch itself.
